The New Hampshire Humane Society raised over $290,000 at their annual casino night fundraiser, held Jan. 23, at The Lake Estate on Winnisquam in Tilton. Donors bid high on experiences donated to be auctioned off, and the over 250 attendees enjoyed games of chance, appetizers, music and dancing, a candy bar, and live caricature drawing. NHHS Executive Director Charles Stanton said more than half the guests were new friends of the humane society, and thinks people were drawn to the new venue. The Lake Estate donated a portion of all hotel rooms sold that weekend to the cause. (Julie Hirshan Hart/The Laconia Daily Sun photos)
